Located in the rolling hills between Danbury and Madison in northeastern Stokes County of North Carolina, Vernon Ridge Farm has been generations of farmers in the local community. With the demise of the farming profession in rural North Carolina, farmers in the area are seeking new uses for their farms and lands.
Vernon Ridge Farm is in transition from farming. Currently most of the tobacco fields have been converted into fescue grasses for live-stock. Three-fourths of the farm is in timber and will not be ready for harvest for several years.
Although there are no live-stock on the farm (except me and Sweetie), we are always looking for new uses of the farm land.
We have investigated and would entertain the leasing the land to other farmers for a vineyard, blueberry farms or any long term crop. We would also entertain the idea of having a cell phone tower located here for the local community usage or a passive solar farm.
Summer time at the farm... and Christmas 2010 .. it was truly beautiful....
The Pool is open in the summer (May to September)
The farm house is a fully equipped home with a stocked kitchen, back porch sitting area, casual Living room, master bedroom and bath on the first floor. There are 3 bedrooms upstairs. Although there is only one bath located in the 1800s farm house, everyone quickly adapts.
The Pool and hot tub area are... well speechless.... in the full summer you will think you're in the TROPICS!!.
